Role Overview

Location: Remote / Pickering, Ontario (Hybrid optional)
Position Type: Volunteer

Afiwi Groove School is seeking a dynamic Volunteer Community Partnerships & Strategy Lead to help expand the organization’s network and strengthen its impact in the community. This role focuses on building meaningful partnerships, identifying collaboration opportunities, and supporting strategic initiatives that help grow Afiwi’s programs and reach.

The ideal candidate is a relationship builder who enjoys connecting organizations, identifying opportunities, and supporting community-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop partnership opportunities with community organizations, schools, arts groups, and local businesses.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Support the development of strategic initiatives and collaborations that align with Afiwi Groove School’s mission.
  • Work with the Afiwi team to identify opportunities for joint programs, events, or community projects.
  • Assist with outreach to potential partners, sponsors, and collaborators.
  • Support the development of community engagement strategies to increase participation in Afiwi programs.
  • Represent Afiwi Groove School at community meetings, networking events, and partnership discussions when needed.
  • Provide recommendations on ways to expand Afiwi’s community presence and impact.

Qualifications

  • Experience in community engagement, partnerships, outreach, or strategic development.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and identify new opportunities.
  • Passion for arts, culture, youth development, and community empowerment.

Assets

  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations or community initiatives.
  • Knowledge of the local arts and community landscape.
  • Experience with program development, sponsorship, or partnerships.
  • Existing relationships with community organizations or networks.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 3–5 hours per week
  • Flexible schedule with occasional participation in meetings or community events.
