Duties

We are seeking volunteers to help out at the adoption centre in Pickering at Petsmart .  Duties include:

  • cleaning cat cages, litter pans, ensuring cats have fresh food and water
  • keeping centre clean
  • brushing, socializing and playing with cats 
  • Spending time interacting and socializing shyer cats
  • talking to public about cats, and potential adopters about adoptable cats 
  • assisting with the adoption process for cats approved for adoption 
  • communicating with fellow volunteers about any information needed and arranging coverage for any absences

Interaction Level Solitary ; One-on-one ; Small Group ; You may be volunteering alone or with 1 other volunteer. You will also interact with customers and cats
Minimum Hours 3 / Week
Dates and Times Monday: Afternoon (3pm to 6pm) 
Tuesday: Afternoon (3pm to 6pm) 
Wednesday: Afternoon (3pm to 6pm) 
Thursday: Afternoon (3pm to 6pm) 
Friday: Morning, Afternoon (9 to 12, 3 to 6 pm) 
Saturday: Morning, Afternoon, Evening (9 to 12, 12 to 3, 3 to 6 , 6 to 9 pm) 
 
Shifts are 9 am to 12 noon, noon to 3 pm, 3 pm to 6 pm, 6 pm to 9 pm. In addition to shifts needed above, we are also looking for float shifts
Seasons Spring ; Summer ; Fall ; Winter ; Year Round ; Volunteering is alternative months in 2024. Most volunteers volunteer 3 hours per week, usually the same shift each week. There are options to do additional shifts if interested. Openings will be for any shifts not currently filled. We are looking for volunteers alternative months at this location, May, July,September, November 2024
