On the first day, volunteers clear shelter items from cabinets, take down and disinfect beds, and reset the area. The following day, volunteers transport beds from the sanctuary to the foyer. On day two, volunteers make up the beds and complete the shelter set-up.

The work is hands-on and involves lifting, bending, and moving equipment. Two-person lifts are required for bed frames. Closed-toe shoes are needed, and gloves are provided for handling linens and cleaning products. Volunteers work under the direction of the site supervisor and are not in a client-facing role on these shifts, though confidentiality applies to anything seen or overheard in the space.
